TÜV SÜD Certification mark for Fitness Trackers
More Security for your health
The TÜV SÜD certification mark for Fitness Tracker shows the dealer or manufacturer that the products that are being manufactured or sold are fulfilling all relevant requirements.
Test object
Fitness Tracker is also known as Activity Tracker, Fitness Bracelet or Activity Bracelet. It involves devices or applications that record all fitness-related data and monitors the number of steps, distance travelled and calories burned. Some devices even provide information about the heart rate and the quality of sleep. In order to capture data in the long term, the Fitness Tracker is to be synchronized with computers or smart phones. These electronic devices are worn directly on the body and thus fall into the field of portable technology, the so-called "Wearable Technologies"
Test basis
After successful safety, testing and certification of the product, the voluntary certification mark of the independent testing and inspection organization TÜV SÜD is awarded. The use of the TÜV SÜD certification mark pre-supposes a repeated annual visit to the manufacturing facilities.

Approval Statements
Safety tested
The statement "safety tested" confirms that the product meets the basic technical safety requirements.
Production monitoring
The use of the TÜV SÜD mark pre-supposes a recurring, at least annual inspection of the manufacturing facilities.
While visiting the manufacturing plants TÜV SÜD controls the quality assurance measures on the spot. It examines whether the product can be prepared here with the same quality in series.
As a part of the annual monitoring it also checks whether the manufactured products, confirm to the certified samples. If the product is modified without authorization, the certificate expires and the certification mark may no longer be used.
Harmful chemicals test
The product has been tested for the user against possible harmful chemicals.
For example: Nickel, which may cause adverse skin reactions.
Water-resistant (IP 67 or 5 ATM)
The Ingress Protection (IP) code is an international standard that details how protected from physical and liquid ingress an object is. The rating is written in the format IPXY where X is resistance to physical ingress and Y is the resistance to liquid ingress. IP67, means dust tight and immersion up to 1 meter under conditions specified by the manufacturer. The standard used to measure the IP level of the device is EN 60529.
5 ATM indicates that under static (nonmoving) conditions at ca. 50 meters below the surface of the water the pressure of the water will not stop the function of the device. The standard used for measurement is ISO 22810.
Drop test
The resistance of the products is checked, when they bounce to a free fall from a normal height.
